Sunnyside is close to a variety of outdoor activities. Guests often bring road bikes to better enjoy the valley's country roads and views as they wine taste. Ask at the inn for a route.
Rock climbing in the Tieton River Valley is just an hour to the west. There are many sites with bolted sport routes and traditional routes ranging from 5.3 to 5.13 in difficulty. The Tieton River Nature Trail runs along the river there, as well.
Fishermen will find a variety of options, especially fly fishing for trout in the Yakima River, the only Blue Ribbon trout stream in the state. Consult Red's Fly Shop for places to go and fishing reports.
Want to summit during your stay? Mt. Adams is a 3.5 hour drive to the southwest and the south climb is a non-technical route up to the 12,276 foot peak.
Floating the Yakima River between Ellensburg and Yakima is a popular summertime activity.
During the colder months, White Pass Ski Area opens about an hour and a half west of Sunnyside. There are runs for beginning, intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders.
